Performances

I made my debut with the Gulf Coast Symphony Orchestra as a guest artist for the Tribute to MLK, Jr concerts. The first concert was held on January 14th at the iMPAC in Gulf Port, MS. The second concert was held on January 15th at the Pascagoula PAC in Pascagoula, MS. I performed three Spirituals: My Soul’s Been Anchored in the Lord (arr. Price/Curry), Jesus Lay Your Head in the Window (arr. Hale Smith) and Ride On, King Jesus (arr. Dawson/Curry).

I collaborated with pianist Jianing Ling (DMA student of Dr. Kevin Chance) to perform three art songs by 20th Century Italian composer Franco Alfano on her Chamber Music Recital. Dr. Julia Brock asked me to research and program music for “Down by the Riverside” an art installation created by artist Tony Bingham as part of the Flow Tuscaloosa Project supported by the Collaborative Arts Research Initiative. Research for this recital was supported by funding from the Alabama State Council for the Arts, the National Endowment for the Arts and the Collaborative Arts Research Initiative. This voice and digital recital program briefly document the extraordinary careers of African American opera singers: Grace Bumbry, Shirly Verrett, and Marian Anderson, the first African American to perform a principal role at the Metropolitan Opera. The recital featured arias, duets and solo piano arrangements from operatic works performed on the historic recital presented by Bumbry and Verrett at Carnegie Hall in celebration of Anderson’s 80th birthday on January 31, 1982. “I Walk with Spirit” was featured on the 76th Dance-Forms International Choreographers’ Showcase performed at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in Scotland, August 2019. The piece was choreographed by Cornelius Carter and featured Luvada A. Harrison, soprano and Lawrence Jackson, dance. It was such an honor for our performance to receive a stellar review in Dance Magazine from International Dance critic: David Mead.



UA Musical Theatre students lead a Dance Audition Workshop for theatre students at the University of Pikeville

Two Day Experiential Learning Residency: presented masterclasses on Voice techniques and Musical Theatre audition techniques. I guest lectured in American Music & Classical Music Appreciation Classes; UA Musical Theatre students gave a recital, and a dance audition workshop was taught by a UA Musical Theatre/Dance major.
